Seahorse XFe96 Analyzer
Cellular energy metabolism drives fundamental biological processes, enabling growth, function, and survival. The Seahorse XFe96 Analyzer provides a detailed bioenergetic profile of cells or ex-vivo samples by measuring two key indicators: oxygen consumption rate (OCR), reflecting mitochondrial respiration, and extracellular acidification rate (ECAR), reflecting glycolytic activity. Together, these metrics offer insights into metabolic pathway usage and cellular energy balance, making the platform valuable for studying physiology, disease mechanisms, and therapeutic responses.
How it works?
Cells produce energy primarily through two pathways: mitochondrial respiration, which consumes oxygen, and glycolysis, which releases protons. Seahorse XF technology uses highly sensitive, label-free optical sensors embedded in specialized microplates to monitor these changes in real time. By measuring OCR and ECAR simultaneously, the platform enables a dynamic assessment of mitochondrial function, glycolytic activity, and estimated ATP production without disrupting the cells.
Features:
•Live cell, real-time analysis of cellular energy metabolism platform in 96-well format.
•Cultured cells, isolated mitochondria and tissue slices can be used as samples.
•Multiple parameters reported from each assay well, including OCR, PER or ECAR, and ATP product rates.
•High-sensitivity analysis of as few as 5,000 cells per well using the custom 96-well plate.
•Four-port injection system with automated mixing feature for assessing acute cellular responses to substrates, inhibitors, and other compounds in real time.
•Wide operation environment temperature of 4 to 30 °C, allowing the analyzer to maintain internal assay temperature of 16 to 42 °C.
